How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments required depends on your skin colour, hair colour and coarseness of the hair. Usually a minimum of 4-6 sessions may be required to attain desired results.

There are so many IPL operators, why should I be treated at Elysium?

Recently, you may have heard about some IPL horror stories featured on programs like 'A Current Affair' and 'Today Tonight' regarding the use of dodgy IPL equipment and untrained/unsafe IPL operators. Currently, IPL industry is mostly unregulated by the government, and as a result there are many operators using IPL equipment, who are not taking correct safety precautions. IPL can potentially cause burns, scarring and hypo/hyper pigmentation...consequently at Elysium safety is a top priority

Our IPL machine, the MagicSkin Professional IPL is fully TGA registered. At Elysium all of our IPL technicians have received training at Australia's first Goverment accredited course in safety and clinical applications of IPL. Prior to any IPL treatment, we conduct a thorough consultation to ensure you are a safe candidate for IPL treatment (see description of this below).

Please note: the treatment area MUST be protected from the sun (eg. by clothing, sunscreen, hat) for 6 weeks prior to treatment and for 6 weeks post-treatment.

IPL Consultation

Prior to treatment we provide an IPL consultation in order to determine if you are a safe candidate for treatment. As a precaution, we also check for contra-indications prior to every IPL treatment. During your initial IPL consultation, if you are deemed appropriate for IPL treatment you will receive between 1-3 test patches in the area to be treated. If after 1 week no adverse reactions have occured in the test patch area, we will then commence treatment.
